Origin: Powerhouse was originally Rieg Davan, a Syfon Warrior in Xandar's Nova Corps (a rank second only to a Centurion Nova Prime). During Zorr's attack on Xandar, he had been sent on a space mission to inspect Zorr's starship. On his way back from his inspection, a comet collided with his spacecraft and it was severely damaged. He spent months drifting in space until Earth's gravity dragged his ship into the ocean. Later, he was found by Condor and was manipulated by the villain. Condor told Powerhouse that he had found the young man afloat in the Atlantic Ocean in a small raft. The raft had come from a merchant ship whose passengers' energies had been mysteriously drained. Condor also lied to Powerhouse and told him that Davan was the one who had murdered the passengers. Under the Condor's influence, Powerhouse became a thief stealing technology for the Condor in order to defeat their foe, the Sphinx.

Powerhouse first fought and drained Nova's energies as the young hero was trying to capture the Condor. Later during a museum theft, the two fought again with Nova winning by throwing a fire extinguisher at Powerhouse. Davan crushes the extinguisher but his energy draining abilities are neutralized and he's knocked unconscious by its escaping contents. Later, the Condor and Diamondhead would free Powerhouse from police custody and the Absorbaron, energy draining equipment they were using to contain him.

After the three villains capture Nova, they brainwashed Nova into becoming their ally. Nova lead the Terrible Trio to the Nova Prime Starship. There Davan slowly began to regain his Xandarian memories due to being on the ship. After stealing weaponry from the starship, the Terrible Trio escape to Earth and leave Nova (who had shaken off the brainwashing) behind. Later, Powerhouse, Condor and Diamondhead began their assault on the Sphinx.

However, Powerhouse was no match for the Sphinx's power and was knocked unconscious. In his quest to find a solution to end his immortality, the Sphinx scanned Davan's mind but found no answer. He wiped Powerhouse's memory and teleported him to London.

Some months later, the Sphinx returned Powerhouse's memories as the powerful Egyptian had a use for the Xandarian. The Sphinx had discovered the secret he was searching for was on Xandar and he needed a pilot to take him there via the Nova Prime Starship. Nova was dispatched by the Sphinx to retrieve Powerhouse and the two foes began a fierce battle in the streets of London with Nova knocking out his foe with an incredible punch! The two (along with the heroes Crimebuster and Comet) were teleported to the Nova Prime Starship. On board, the Sphinx handed Powerhouse his old Syfon Warrior uniform and instructed him to read the star coordinates on a computer screen. The star-screen and the uniform restored all of Powerhouse's memories and he recalled who he truly was.

Powerhouse piloted the starship back to Xandar where he became a founding member of the Champions of Xandar. As a Champion, Powerhouse fought the Skrulls in the Skrull/Xandar War. Later, Powerhouse (along with the rest of the Champions of Xandar) were killed as they unsuccessfully tried to stop Nebula from destroying Xandar.
