Title: Chapter XVI: Battle Skaarns

At the The Keep, Sam Alexander and Beta Ray Bill confront Skaarn. The space pirate has stolen a powerful weapon which had belonged to a former herald of Galactus.

After Skaarn insults Nova and Beta Ray, Sam flies over and punches him in the mouth. In response, the villain uses the weapon to blast a hole in the hull of the ship holding the Korbonites captive! As Nova grabs Skaarn and flies him away, Bill rushes to save his people.

Inside the ship, Jinin attempts to flee through the last escape pod. However, when she hears the screams of the trapped Korbonites, she changes her mind and tries to help them get free.

Back at the Keep, Sam Alexander is taking heavy punishment from Skaarn. Just as Nova decides to leave the battle, the pirate makes the mistake of threatening to destroy Earth. Filled with pure rage, Sam takes the fight to Skaarn. He unleashes punch after punch into his foe and drives him through an asteroid and into the ground of a nearby planet. Nova continues to pummel Skaarn as he unloads his contained fury of being bullied his whole life. The space pirate is barely conscious when Sam stops his attack.

After throwing Skaarn's weapon into the nearby star, he meets up with Beta Ray Bill who has finished saving his people. Beta Ray congratulates Nova on his victory and informs his friend they must secure the weapon back in the Keep. Sam reveals he threw it into a star which causes the Korbonite champion to laugh loudly. Then Beta Ray Bill realizes Nova wasn't kidding and begins scolding him. He explains the weapon had belonged to a herald of Galactus and could split planets so it most likely could survive a star's heat. Bill races off to find the weapon and tells Sam to find a way to contain Skaarn. Nova responds that he has an idea.

Later, on Cadivan's space yacht, Sam Alexander makes an offer to his former adversary. He suggests turning over Skaarn to Cadivan, who can turn him into the authorities for the bounty, in exchange for the alien's old Nova helmet. Cadivan is outraged but is quickly overruled by his wife Emiliasta. After being belittled by his spouse, Cadivan agrees to Nova's offer.

Back on Knowhere, Sam meets up with Cosmo, Beta Ray Bill and Jinin. Jinin asks Nova for her portion of Skaarn's bounty. The Earth teen explains all he wanted was the Nova helmet. She hits him and angrily explains she needed the money and walks away. Bill tells Sam to cheer up because he thinks Jinin likes him.

Later on a lifeless moon, Sam and Bill lay the dead Nova from Skaarn's ship to rest. Nova notices a necklace on the alien that he hadn't seen before. Bill asks him to leave the keepsake with the body. The two heroes uses their powers to create a memorial and grave. Beta Ray Bill finishes their work by placing fire from Muspelheim which will last thousands of years.

As they part ways, Bill reminds Sam to cherish his abilities and treat every day he has them as a gift. On his way back to Earth, Nova takes some time to watch the wonders of the cosmos.

When he returns to Carefree, AZ, Sam Alexander finds an eviction notice on his home.
