Title: Chapter Three: Betrayal

Out near Jupiter, Sam Alexander's body floats apparently lifeless after being blasted by the Chitauri armada. As the alien ship attempts to retrieve the Nova helmet, Sam opens his eyes revealing that he had been feigning injury and zooms towards the ship!

He communicates back to Rocket Raccoon and Gamora that he is going to try and destroy the ship's power generator. However, after bursting through the ship's hull, the young hero is blasted to the floor by an alien weapon. Nova looks up to see the person holding the energy gun is Titus!

Titus is determined to claim the Nova helmet that Sam is wearing for himself. Sam tries to understand why the former Black Nova is attacking him. The tiger-like warrior reveals to the young Earth hero that Jesse Alexander was a traitor!

Titus explains how years ago on a covert operation in the Rigellian Empire to recover the Recorder, the Black Novas were under attack. During the attack, Jesse chose to abandon the group in order to escape to Earth and his wife. As the members of the Black Novas were killed by the invading Chitauri, Titus swore revenge on Jesse Alexander!

The former Black Nova continues to inform Nova that he was taken prisoner by the Chitauri and was able to make a bargain for his life. He offered them the Rigellian Recorder, the method to open the container and his assistance to discover the Recorder's secrets. Years later, they were able to decipher the encrypted files and create an Ultimate Nullifier!

Titus finally reveals that he killed Jesse Alexander less than a week ago when Jesse arrived to challenge him!

As the Chitauri ally threatens to take Sam's helmet as a trophy, Sam Alexander unleashes a powerful Nova blast at Titus! Sam escapes deep into the ship and the Chitauri soldiers follow him. Suddenly, Nova swings back around, grabs the Ultimate Nullifier and flies quickly into space. Sam leaves the Chitauri pursuers behind by creating a space warp back home.

Soon in Earth orbit, Nova communicates to Rocket Raccoon and Gamora that he needs to meet them at his house immediately.

Later that night, Sam tries to find a place to hide the Nullifier in Jesse's garage. After looking at different options including under the bed and under a car, he decides to hide it in the trash can! Back in the house, Sam's mother asks Sam where he's been and again hints that she knows what is going on with her son. Before their conversation can continue further, Sam notices a blue glow coming from the garage and runs out to see if Rocket Raccoon and Gamora have arrived.

Sam Alexander is shocked to find himself facing Titus who is holding the Nova helmet and a large energy weapon! The former Black Nova threatens to destroy the town of Carefree unless he is given the Ultimate Nullifier!
