With her enemies finished, Nova 0001 begins a conversation with the WorldMind. The artificial sentience briefs the new Nova Centurion on what has happened to her. It tells her that she was given a sliver of the Nova Force as part of an emergency deputization necessary in protecting the injured Nova Prime Richard Rider. The WorldMind also explains that he is only linked to her thoughts and that his actual form is contained within the brain of Rich. Ko-Rel is unsure if she wants to be a Nova Centurion but she realizes that she can use the powers to rescue her shipmates on the crashed starship Spirit of Supremor. Nova 0001 learns that she was chosen due to her sense of responsibility and devotion to her duty. Inside the Supremor, Ko-Rel meets with her crew and they learn that she is now a Nova Centurion. They respond by joking with her about the tightness of the uniform! Nova 0001 proceeds to head towards the central medical facility where the medics are taking care of Nova.
Inside, the heavily damaged form of Richard Rider is glowing and slowly rebuilding itself via the WorldMind's self-repair process. The Kree medics are stunned at the progress of the repairs since Nova Prime had been brought in with multiple skeletal fractures, organ failure and fifth-degree burns over 95% of his body. Ko-Rel once again talks to the WorldMind which causes her shipmates to wonder if she's lost her mind since they cannot hear the voice of the living computer. She tells the crew that it is all part of being Nova 0001 and that the artificial sentience has warned her that additional Phalanx forces are closing in. She immediately orders a deployment of defense forces to protect the ship.
With everyone gone, Ko has a talk with the medical chief, Yan. She informs him about the situation of the Phalanx and that the Kree Empire has been conquered. However, she is conflicted on her next move. With the Nova powers, Ko can leave Drez-Lar and return to her son, Zam. Nova0001 feels that the WorldMind won't let her leave and insists that she continue to protect the Nova Prime.
Elsewhere, one of Ko's officers, Flagpole, has reached his defense position only to find the Phalanx! He is quickly overcome and converted into a drone. The Phalanx continue into the ship until they come across Ko's friend Dimples. The young Kree fights valiantly but falls to the drones as they behead her. The situation is the same throughout the Supremor as the Kree warriors continue to be slaughtered.
Ko enters the battle and begins destroying Phalanx drones with gravimetric pulses. While she's fighting the physical threat, Nova0001 is also engaged in a mental confrontation with the WorldMind. The computerized intelligence demands that Ko protect Rich at all costs. The new Nova Centurion wants to keep fighting her way through the ship to save her crew. She flies away from the Supremor despite the protests of the WorldMind. The young female hero explains that she is not abandoning the Nova Prime but is drawing the Phalanx away from Rich Rider's body. Her plan works as the warrior drones teleport off the ship in pursuit of Ko.
While the remaining Krees tend to the wounded, Gamora has snuck her way onto the Supremor. She kills a number of Kree guards as she makes her way towards Rich. Gamora checks in with her drone troops and they confirm that they are battling Nova 0001. The Phalanx Select tells her to keep her occupied while she completes her mission. Ironically, Gamora has used Ko's plan against her in order to get to Richard Rider.
After killing Yan with her knife, she finally finds the Nova Prime. Gamora tells the helpless hero that she can help him heal much faster and give him a new way of life. Rich's former lover kisses him which infects him with the Phalanx's techno-virus. Although Richard Rider is now completely healed and back to full strength, he has now become a Phalanx Select!
