An Interview With
Tom DeFalco!

A Nova Prime Page Exclusive

Mr. DeFalco was kind enough to answer some questions about his work on founding the New Warriors and Nova in Spider-Girl. I'd like to thank Tom for giving us his insights on Nova and his plans for the M2 Nova.

1) What led you to your choice of Nova as a founding member of the New Warriors?

I always liked the character, and felt he would be an asset because of his power and personality.

2) Did you prepare a backstory on what happened to Rich Rider prior to his joining the New Warriors? If so, can you give us some details?

I did...but that was a long time ago...and I no longer remember the details. Sorry!

3) What led to your decision to have Nova use the red-jacketed costume as opposed to his original one?

That was decided by Ron Frenz...who liked that look. Since he was the one who had to draw it, he got to decide.

4) In Spider-Girl, you have Spider-Man's daughter meet an older Nova. Is this Nova still Richard Rider or someone else?

He is Richard.

5) Are there any more scheduled appearances planned for the M2 Nova?

Yes. He's a regular member of our cast, and will appear in Spider-Girl #25 & #26.

6) Any plans for a M2 Nova mini-series?

Not at this time...but you should write to Bob Harras if you want one.

7) What other projects of yours can we expect to see in the near future?

After THE BUZZ, I'll be working on another three-issue limited series with Ron Frenz. And Ron Lim and I have created a new character who will probably be published by IMAGE, and come out in late 2000 or early 2001.
